ZANU-PF provinces will this weekend hold  inter-district conferences where they will come up with resolutions to take to the 14th Annual National People’s Conference slated for Chinhoyi next week. The provinces will also use the opportunity to elect members of their executives following the endorsement by the Politburo of last week’s election results for the provincial chairpersons.

Zanu-PF national spokesman Cde Rugare Gumbo yesterday said all the 10 provinces were expected to elect provincial executive members and come up with resolutions before the annual conference kicks off on Tuesday.

“Preparations for the national conference are well on course and we have been given a report by the National Chairman Cde Simon Khaya Moyo that all plans are in place,” Cde Gumbo said.

“Provincial conferences must be done between now and Monday because the conference starts on Tuesday next week. This will be a busy weekend for Zanu-PF as you are aware that the Politburo has endorsed the election of chairpersons and the provinces are now required to elect executive members from their baskets.”

Matabeleland South will hold its provincial conference at the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Polytechnic in Gwanda today, provincial deputy spokesperson Cde Jabulani Phetshu said.

“We are having our conference tomorrow to elect members of the provincial executive and come up with resolutions for the national conference,” said Cde Phetshu.

“We expect issues of agriculture financing, indigenisation, mining development and aligning of laws with the new constitution to take centre stage in the meeting.”

Zanu-PF Bulawayo administrator Cde Josphat Ndebele said the city would hold its conference tomorrow.
“We are meeting for that programme on Sunday to make resolutions for the conference and come up with members of the provincial executive,” said Cde Ndebele.

Tonight the Bulawayo province is expected to hold a fund-raising dinner at the Bulawayo Polytechnic’s School of Hospitality and Tourism with Cde Khaya Moyo, as guest of honour.

Newly-elected provincial chairman Professor Callistus Ndlovu could not be reached for comment on his mobile phone. Matabeleland North chairman Cde Richard  Moyo said his province would hold its conference today.

“We will be voting for the provincial executive in Lupane tomorrow (today). This involves filling posts of vice-chair and other portfolios in the province,” he said.

The Annual National People’s Conference is expected to come up with strategies on how the party will operationalise its economic blueprint, Zim Asset, which will steer economic revival efforts between now and 2018.

Zim Asset was adopted by Zanu-PF to revive the economy following its crushing victory in the July 31 harmonised elections.
