card-carrying members eligible to participate.
The party’s Secretary for Information and Publicity Cde Rugare Gumbo said primaries to select candidates to represent the party in the polls due by end of next month, would be run like general elections.
“The results are going to be communicated from the polling station to the constituency command centre, to the district, to the province and then the national command centre,” he said.
“All members of the party from cell to the Politburo are eligible to vote.
“We are working towards making sure that the primary elections are held in one day in all the constituencies at polling stations that are usually used during general elections so that voters can have easy access to polling stations.”
Cde Gumbo said the revolutionary party was still working on logistics to ensure the primaries would be run smoothly.
The Politburo would meet today to finalise rules and regulations for the conduct of the primary elections and the party’s manifesto ahead of the harmonised elections.

The finalisation of the rules and regulations for the primaries was deferred at the last Politburo meeting after the Women’s League requested to have a quota of seats reserved for women.
The matter had been referred for further discussion between the party’s Legal Committee and the Women’s League.
“The Politburo will meet tomorrow (today) to finalise the rules and regulations for primary elections and also to finalise on the manifesto,” said Cde Gumbo.
“Members will have a look at the manifesto and also furnish us with their input on it.”
Cde Gumbo said other issues that are likely to come up for discussion include a report by the National Chairman Cde Simon Khaya Moyo on the probe team he led to assess the party’s structures in various provinces.
“We will also get a report from Cde Patrick Chinamasa on the progress made so far in aligning the electoral laws with the new Constitution and in that context we may also discuss the extraordinary Sadc Summit that was postponed,” he said.
Cde Gumbo said Secretary for the Commissariat Cde Webster Shamu would also present another report on the mass mobilisation exercise that the party embarked upon to attract new members ahead of the elections.
The Constitutional Court ruled recently that elections be held by July 31, a decision that was embraced by Zanu-PF, but scoffed at by MDC-T.
Analysts have since noted that the MDC-T is afraid of the elections after many of its allies predicted that the party is headed for a crushing defeat by the resurgent Zanu-PF whose policies appeal to the majority of people.
Recent surveys carried out by those known to support MDC-T have indicated that the Western-sponsored party will lose the elections.
President has reiterated on several occasions that Zanu-PF is ready for the harmonised elections.
