THE Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa, says Zanu-PF is committed to honouring promises made to the electorate ahead of last year’s elections.Speaking during question time in the national assembly on Wednesday, Cde Mnangagwa said even MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai and his deputy Thokozani Khupe took interest in the Zanu-PF manifesto that was later developed into Zim-Asset.
He was responding to MDC-T Chitungwiza North legislator Godfrey Sithole who wanted an update on the 2.2 million jobs promised by Zanu-PF in its election manifesto.
“It is very true that the promises came from deep down our hearts and we really want to fulfil them. If they could read inside our hearts, we could actually win first prize because if you are aware of what the President has said, it is very good, he came up with a very good document for this country,” said Cde Mnangagwa.
As examples he gave ministries of Energy and Power Development, Transport and Infrastructural Development, Health and Child Care and Agriculture, Mechanisation and Irrigation Development that he said had drafted good policies that would see the successful implementation of Zim-Asset.
Cde Mnangagwa said that now that the MDC-T was no longer in government, Zanu-PF would deliver.
“Our youths are going to be happy because of the jobs that are being created for them, peace to the young people,” he said.
The minister dismissed claims by MDC-T Kambuzuma legislator Willias Madzimure that the blueprint which was launched a year ago only appeared on paper as nothing was implemented.
“Honestly, one is dumb-founded, you run short of words on how to explain to these people,” responded Cde Mnangagwa.
“I have since talked to them that if you sow seed, you do not reap the harvest immediately but you give it time to grow. It does not mean when you do something, you expect results there and then, but you should listen and wait for the plan that we have for Zim-Asset.”
