ZANU-PF is set to launch its election manifesto sometime this week as it gears for the harmonised elections.
In a telephone interview, the party’s national secretary for information and publicity Cde Rugare Gumbo said the manifesto would buttress the ideals of indigenisation and empowerment.
“There is a plan for President Mugabe to launch the manifesto this week. We have not finalised the day, it could be on Friday or Saturday,” said Cde Gumbo.
“We will have a National Election Directorate (NED) meeting (on Tuesday) and the Politburo on Wednesday.
“On Friday we will have a Central Committee meeting.”
Asked on what Zimbabweans can expect from the manifesto Cde Gumbo said empowerment and employment were the key issues that the party sought to address.
“We have been talking about indigenisation, empowerment and development and the party underscored this in our annual people’s conference in the Midlands last year. The manifesto is set to emphasise those points,” he said.
A political manifesto is a declaration of intent, policy or aim issued by a political party, which the electorate uses to assess the strength of what a particular party would do if voted into power.
Analysts have said employment creation and economic revival were the bread and butter issues for the people of Zimbabwe.
Zanu-PF has always crafted clear policies and programmes that are meant to economically empower black people and make them masters of their own destiny.
The revolutionary party has successfully implemented the land reform programme, which has benefited more than 200 000 families.
On the contrary the MDC formations have attracted criticism for failing to come up with traceable development programmes except demeaning Zanu-PF and seeking for solutions from the West.
