THE Zanu-PF Bulawayo Province will set another date for the holding of elections for city centre district following the cancellation of polls on Sunday. In an interview yesterday, the party’s provincial spokesperson, Cde Michael Sikhosana, said the city centre district was supposed to hold elections for its executive at Davies Hall but the process was nullified after some party members who were not registered in the district tried to participate in the process.

“The process was nullified after some members who were not registered attempted to participate in the election,” said Cde Sikhosana.
“The process had to be halted because of that. The commissariat will look into the issue and come up with another date for the election.”
Cde Sikhosana said it was not true that the election was meant for provincial officers as reported in some sections of the media.

“That was a district poll meant to elect district officers and not provincial officers. The district was supposed to elect its main wing, women’s league and the youth league. People who take part in the process should be registered members who are on the voters’ roll for the district,” he said.
