ZANU-PF yesterday unveiled its campaign programme with President Mugabe set to address his first star rally in Mashonaland Central tomorrow.
In an interview from Harare, Zanu-PF national spokesperson Cde Rugare Gumbo said the revolutionary party would not waste any time as it gears for the forthcoming watershed 31 July harmonised elections, which it must win resoundingly.
“We are intensifying our campaign efforts ahead of the forthcoming elections. We do not have enough time and our candidates should be working flat out to ensure that the party wins,” said Cde Gumbo.
“The first star rally will be held in Mashonaland Central on Thursday 11 July 2013 followed by a rally in Marange on Saturday, 13 July 2013.
“Mashonaland East would follow on the 15th and then Chitungwiza on 16 July. In Mashonaland West the rally will be held on the 18th followed by Matabeleland North on 19 July and Matabeleland South on the 20th.”
Cde Gumbo said the President will again be in Manicaland on 23 July before proceeding to Masvingo on 25 July and Midlands the following day.
Bulawayo and Harare Metropolitan provinces will be the last. The Bulawayo rally will be on 27 July and the last one will be in Harare the following day.
On Friday last week, President Mugabe, who is the party’s First Secretary and Presidential candidate, officially launched the Zanu-PF manifesto at the historic Zimbabwe Grounds in Harare’s Highfield suburb.
Tens of thousands of party supporters attended the launch, an indication that the party’s membership was on the increase compared to the waning support of the MDC formations.
Analysts have said the indigenisation and empowerment inspired manifesto was the desire of every progressive Zimbabwean as it is set to unlock sustainable economic growth and employment creation for thousands of jobless youths.
Launching the manifesto President Mugabe described the forthcoming elections as the “battle of our lives” which Zanu-PF will win resoundingly.
Meanwhile, the party’s candidates across the provinces are busy mobilising support for the party and urging voters to rally behind Zanu-PF, a party that represents people’s aspirations.
