ZANU PF is the party that will usher a new dawn for Zimbabwe on the back of the Second Republic’s people-centred policies which are “leaving no one and no place behind”, the ruling party’s Vice President and Second Secretary, Cde Kembo Mohadi, said yesterday.

Addressing scores of Zanu PF faithfuls in Epworth, Cde Mohadi said the country was currently on a development trajectory in all its spheres, hence it was only logical that President Mnangagwa is re-elected into office.

He said it was important that the Second Republic is given another term to see through the wonderful work it had started.

“We need your votes on 23 August, 2023 in order to give our President and his team a fresh mandate to complete the good work he started and to fulfil his vision for the nation, that of transforming Zimbabwe into an upper middle income economy by the year 2030.

“We want to send a strong message to our detractors that Zanu PF is indeed a people’s party. We are the only party with a leader with a known vision, muono.  This is why we say vote for us, vote for President Mnangagwa, his MPs and Councillors,” Cde Mohadi said.

Highlighting the triumphs of the Second Republic including ensuring food self-sufficiency, infrastructure development, modernisation, and service delivery, Cde Mohadi said the ruling party had the tenacity to achieve “wonders”.

“With the successes we have achieved in many sectors I want to assure you that we will certainly tame and win the financial war.

“Already the rate has started falling and in due course we expect prices to drop as well. When we took over we had a US$3 billion mining economy, now we are sitting at US$12 billion,” he said.

Cde Mohadi reiterated President Mnangagwa’s call for peace before, during and after the polls.

“I have been sent to Epworth as part of the campaign programme to canvass for votes for Team Zanu PF which is composed of President Mnangagwa, our MPs and Councillors.

“I express His Excellency’s desire for peace and harmony before, during and after the elections,” he said.

The rally was attended by Politburo and Central Committee members as well as the ruling party’s provincial leadership.

Meanwhile, addressing nearly 10 000 Zanu PF supporters drawn from Seke constituency in Dema yesterday, Zanu PF National chairman Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri said the campaign teams should carry out their tasks diligently and peacefully.

President Mnangagwa, Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri said, is on record as emphasising the need for peace before, during and after the harmonised elections.

“We call upon the electorate to adhere to the President’s call. Zanu PF is not a violent party. We do not want anyone to tarnish our party’s name. If you kill someone you will face the full wrath of the law alone, not Zanu PF, so let me reiterate that our President loves peace so we should always remain peaceful” she said.

Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri said party members should exhibit high levels of discipline, and Government is working tirelessly to address the welfare of the people.

“Watch your step during the campaign period, do not engage in any form violence before, during and after elections. Elections will come and go, but we need to maintain our relationships after elections,” she said.

In the past, the country was usually rocked by unrest and violent clashes ahead of elections, something the Second Republic has managed to tame.

“Under the Second Republic, we can only talk of peace and achievements. It’s a different kind of politics; politics of action, service delivery advancement and much more. The Government is guaranteeing peace and tranquillity.

“We are here to remind each other that on August 23, this year, we are going for elections. We have no doubt that Mashonaland East province will vote for Zanu PF and President Mnangagwa in their numbers,” Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri said.

President Mnangagwa’s peace message has become the soundtrack of this August harmonised elections with political players and observers saluting the Second Republic for creating an environment that guarantees free expression.

Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri said due to the engagement and re-engagement policy by President Mnangagwa, Zimbabwe has seen a lot of investment from the international community.

“Through President Mnangagwa’s engagement and re-engagement and his mantra of friend to all and an enemy to none, Zimbabwe is now a darling to many with the economy on a recovery trajectory.

“Our economy is doing well regardless of illegal sanctions imposed on us. There is a lot of development taking place around the country courtesy of President Mnangagwa,” she said.
