“Cde Gatsi then took it to the garage but we were shocked last week when we discovered that only the shell remains with most of the parts having been stripped,” said Cde Nhata.
He said he personally made a report at Mzilikazi Police Station on Friday and the RRB is 1558130.
Cde Mathe said they expected Cde Gatsi to explain what happened to the parts as he is the one who took the vehicle for repairs and once told the party members that he had found a sponsor who was prepared to pay for the repairs.
“We have been pressuring him to bring back the vehicle.
“We now have to involve the police so that we know the truth of what happened,” said Cde Mathe.
The acting Bulawayo provincial chairperson, Cde Killian Sibanda played the matter down saying it was a fight for power within the youth wing.
“The party has not been informed about the matter and I am hearing it from you and the police also called me about the issue and I informed them that I had not received such a report.
“They told me that they would not pursue the matter,” claimed Cde Sibanda.
He said the party leadership held a meeting on Saturday and no report of the stripped vehicle was tabled.
“If you want to destroy the party then go ahead and write the story. We have not received any report about the vehicle you are talking about although it is known that there are vehicles that were taken to garages for repairs but the party does not have the money to pay the repairs now,” he said.
One vehicle belongs to the women’s league while the other was left in Victoria Falls after it developed a mechanical fault.
Cde Sibanda said members from the party’s nation executive were recently in Bulawayo to carry out an audit but they never said anything about the youth wing vehicle.
Cde Gatsi said some members of the youth wing were out to fix him adding that the mechanic who was given the motor vehicle was in a better position to explain what had happened.
He said the owners of the garage from where the mechanic was operating evicted him from the workshop using the Deputy Sheriff after obtaining a court order and that it was officers from the Deputy Sheriff’s office who had thrown the shell outside the workshop.
“I believe the engine is still in the workshop and what could have been vandalised are the lights because the vehicle had no wheels when it was taken in for repairs.
“The mechanic and officers from the Deputy Sheriff’s office should be in a better position to explain the state of the motor vehicle when they took it out of the workshop,” said Cde Gatsi.
Acting Bulawayo police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Bhekimpilo Ndlovu confirmed that the police were investigating a case of theft of car parts but could not be drawn to give further details.
