Zanu-PF districts in Gokwe Central have welcomed the party’s decision to expel Dorothy Mangami amid indications that she was causing confusion among the electorate. Mangami is the former legislator for the constituency and is now standing as an independent candidate after she failed to make it during the party’s primary elections.
Announcing the decision over the weekend, Zanu-PF Midlands provincial chairperson Cde Daniel Mackenzie Ncube said they tried to engage Mangami, but she was adamant that she would stand as an independent candidate.
District chairmen in the constituency welcomed the decision by the party to have her expelled.
Cde Mike Gwasa of Central A said Mangami was causing confusion among the people and welcomed the decision taken by the party.
“She was causing confusion and at the end that was going to affect our President Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa and Cde Victor Matemadanda. We welcome the decision by the party to expel her. I am happy that our people have since accepted the decision by the party,” he said.
Central B chairman Cde Davison Masvisvi urged the people to ignore Mangami and move forward in voting for President Mnangagwa and Cde Matemadanda.
“Our people should ignore her because we have one candidate for Presidency Cde Mnangagwa and for Parliament Cde Matemadanda. She must be ignored,” he said.
Cde Kudzanai Mpofu of Semwa District said they are already on the ground telling people to ignore Mangami and rally behind Zanu-PF for development.
“People here are fed up with her because she did not bring any development during her time as Member of Parliament. Our people will ignore her because she has nothing to offer to this constituency. We want development and she is not a proper candidate,” he said.
Cde Matemadanda, who is vying for the same seat on Zanu-PF ticket, said it was bad for her to cause confusion in the party.
“Zanu-PF is taking a new dimension, that is why you see our President Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa is preaching peace.
“You have seen him on rallies bringing those who lost on primary elections as well as those who made it.
She has decided to take the wrong path,” he said.
