ZANU-PF wins Chimanimani Ward 8

zanu-pf has won the Chimanimani Ward 8 local government by-election on Saturday, which was described by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) as peaceful.Announcing the election results, ZEC ward elections officer, Mr Godfrey Machowa declared Cde Mupayi Chinguno the winner after amassing 1 654 against National Constitutional Assembly candidate, Mr Isaiah Mushango, who managed a paltry 339 votes.

The local government seat fell vacant after the expulsion of former councillor, Joe Zviuya from zanu-pf last year. The win came on the same day the ruling party won the Bikita West parliamentary by-election by a wide margin of nearly 11 000 votes.
