Zanu-PF wins

Chinhoyi Bureau
Zanu-PF has won 57 of the 95 local authority wards that have been released so far in Mashonaland West province with five of them having been won unopposed. MDC-T garnered only 14 of the wards, giving the revolutionary party a head start before the finalisation of the remaining wards in Mashonaland West province. Zanu-PF swept all the six wards released so far in Sanyati rural district council and all the 11 wards in Ngezi RDC. It has also swept all the 10 wards in Chegutu RDC.

The party lost some wards in Norton Town Council, Kariba and Chinhoyi Municipalities and Karoi Town Council. In Chinhoyi, the party won in all but one ward which went to MDC-T to reflect the turning of tables where the latter had all but one ward in the previous council.

Party provincial chairmanCde John Mafa welcomed the development, saying it was a manifestation of solid groundwork on the part of the revolutionary party.

“We are happy as a party in the province about the outcome. It conforms to what we were saying prior to the elections save for only one seat. We have lost in the National Assembly but like a football match the other team will score sometimes.

We won because of the groundwork that we laid,” said an ecstatic Cde Mafa.
