ZANU-PF is already working on regaining the parliamentary seats that it lost to MDC-T in Bulawayo, the party’s national chairman Cde Simon Khaya Moyo has said.Speaking in Makokoba, where party members were gathered to celebrate the scrapping of debts that residents owed to local authorities, Cde Simon Khaya Moyo said Zanu-PF Bulawayo Province had in the 31 July harmonised elections done well when compared to its performance in the 2008 elections.

“You did your best as Bulawayo Province and the President acknowledged that the people of Bulawayo tried. If we compare the 2008 and the 2013 elections, it shows that the province worked harder than it did in 2008. It is therefore clear that we will take back all the constituencies, like what happened in Matabeleland South Province,” said Cde Khaya Moyo.

“The secret and the basis to all this effort is to respect the party leadership and structures, be transparent, have authentic, verifiable registers and shun corruption. I am in the national disciplinary committee and I will visit all provinces to deal with cases of corruption.”
Cde Moyo urged party members to work closely with the provincial leadership to develop the province.

“We are a united family with common destiny and nobody should be allowed to divide us. We do not want a party full of confusion.
We must be transparent, orderly and work with the new Minister of State, Cde Eunice Nomthandazo Moyo and the entire leadership to come up with solutions to the challenges that the province is facing. This will help us strengthen our party,” said Cde Khaya Moyo.

He commended the Government and President Mugabe for scrapping off water bills, saying the President was committed to improving the people’s welfare.

“When the President promised people that bills will be written off some people dismissed it as a political gimmick but much to the chagrin of our enemies, Government has fulfilled this promise. Everybody, regardless of their political affiliation benefited from the move,” said Cde Khaya Moyo.

He said more was coming as Government worked on improving the welfare of the people. Cde Khaya Moyo urged residents of Makokoba to work with leadership to develop their suburb.

Cde Sally Siziba, who is a resident of Makokoba, said the people in the suburb were grateful to the Government following the cancellation of residents’ debts.

“We thank President Mugabe for taking this decision which has brought relief to many residents. Many of us are out of employment and were finding it difficult to clear the arrears which were running into thousands of dollars,”said Cde Siziba.

Another Makokoba resident, who is also the Zanu-PF provincial information and publicity chairperson Cde Thembinkosi Ncube, applauded President Mugabe for  the move.

“President Mugabe understands the plight of his people hence this decision,” said Cde Ncube.
The Minister of State for Bulawayo, Cde Moyo, Senator Angeline Masuku, the Zanu-PF provincial chairman, Professor Callistus Ndlovu, Politburo members Dr Sikhanyiso Ndlovu and Retired Colonel Tshinga Dube and Central Committee members Cdes Molly Mpofu, Godfrey Malaba and other senior party officials attended the celebrations.
