ZANU-PF supporters based in Cape Town, South Africa on Wednesday marched outside the venue of the World Economic Forum (WEF) for Africa in solidarity with President Mnangagwa and the decision by SADC leaders to join Zimbabwe in its anti-sanctions fight.
The march by ZANU-PF supporters was a first, as such spaces used to be occupied by foreign-sponsored opposition MDC and civil society activists who would set an anti-Zimbabwe agenda on international platforms.
Zanu-PF Youth League political commissar Cde Godfrey Tsenengamu confirmed to The Herald that a solidarity march was held in Cape Town, to send a strong statement to the outside world that Zimbabweans were solidly behind President Mnangagwa.
In a video recorded during the march, Cde Tsenengamu said he was in South Africa together with other nine members of the ZANU-PF Youth League national executive at the invitation of their comrades in Cape Town, who organised a solidarity march.
He said the march was to support President Mnangagwa on his efforts “in recovering the economy (and) in dealing with the problems that we have in Zimbabwe” including corruption.”
SADC leaders recently resolved to support Zimbabwe in the fight for the immediate removal of all sanctions against Zimbabwe.
