ZANU-PF Deputy Secretary for Women’s Affairs Cde Nomthandazo Moyo yesterday urged party youths to be exemplary by respecting their leadership and being united.
The Bulawayo provincial youth league held its inter-district conference yesterday, in preparation for the 16th Annual National People’s Conference to be held in Masvingo province next month.
She said it was important for youths to work with their leadership and participate in developmental programmes that will revive the country’s economy.
“As youths, it is your duty to work as a team and ensure that there is unity in the party. To show that you’re good leaders of tomorrow, you should show maximum respect to your leadership and be disciplined wherever you are.
“As you deliberate on your resolutions to be presented at the national conference, we should shun factionalism, be positive and raise issues that will bring development to the party and the country,” said Cde Moyo, who is also the Minister of State for Bulawayo provincial affairs.
She also urged the youths to patiently wait for the allocation of stands under the Government’s youths’ housing scheme, saying relevant ministries were working on the logistics for the servicing of the stands to start.
The provincial youth league reaffirmed its support for President Mugabe and endorsed his candidature for the 2018 general elections.
Provincial chairperson Cde Anna Mokgohloa said:
“We have gathered to deliberate on the key issues affecting the youths and coming up with resolutions for submission at the party’s national conference next month.
“The first resolution for the provincial youth league is to endorse President Mugabe as our candidate for 2018. As the Bulawayo Provincial youth league, we will stand by President Mugabe before, during and after the elections. We have one centre of power in Zanu-PF and that is President Mugabe,” said Cde Mokgohloa.
She said the main agenda for the conference was to deliberate and resolve on key issues that concern the development of the Zanu-PF youth league and the youth sector in general.
“Today’s key deliberations are key and relevant to the current state of the youth situation. Youths should remember that they’re the creator of the present and the future,” said Cde Mokgohloa.
She commended the provincial leadership for supporting the youth wing in their programmes.
The key issues discussed included the state of the economy, food security and nutrition, social service and poverty eradication, infrastructure and utilities, value addition, sports, culture and religion as well as labour issues.
The party’s provincial chairperson Cde Dennis Ndlovu and senior party officials attended the conference.
