ZBC thrash CBZ social league clash

Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation defeated CBZ 3-0 courtesy of a brace from Hilton Mavise and a fantastic volley from Nqaba Donga in a Bulawayo Corporate Social Soccer League match played at Indlovu Sports Club in Tshabalala. All the goals came in the first half as ZBC dominated the opening stanza. Mavise dribbled past three defenders drawing the goalkeeper out of his goal line and chipped the ball into an empty net. With CBZ still organising their men at the back, ZBC had a counter attack from the man of the match goalkeeper Musiiwa Dube who spotted an unmarked Thulani Munyandi who sent the ball into the 18-area with a header where Donga met it with a volley leaving the keeper stranded. Minutes before half-time Donga was at it again exchanging good passes with Mavise and ZBC got their third goal.

CBZ came back gun blazing in the second half but the bankers found a solid ZBC defence marshaled by no nonsense Sylvester Machingura and Daniel Homela who thwarted all their moves.

Innscor Simbisa went into the weekend’s fixtures on top and maintained their position as the defending champions and their win over Nust Academic Stars means they lead with 18 points from six matches, maintaining a hundred percent record and pole position.

The game between OK Mart and Delta Transport was postponed due to stocktaking happening at the former, a development the league’s board chairman Sylvester Machingura described as what excites the league as when duty calls the men have to work.
