Zimbabwe Building Contractors Association (ZBCA) has said it is ready and committed to working closely with all stakeholders during the forthcoming 7th SADC Industrialisation Week and 44th Heads of State and Government Summit.
Addressing journalists in Harare, ZBCA president Dr Tinashe Manzungu said their association has a long and illustrious history, playing a pivotal role in the development of infrastructure for the nation.

“As a country, we are hosting the SADC Industrialisation Week in a few days and the World’s eyes are on Zimbabwe as we seek innovative ways to boost our industries and drive economic growth,” he said.
“The current landscape presents both challenges and unparalleled opportunities for our industry. The growing urbanisation trend within SADC places a significant demand on our expertise and our priorities will include advocating for policies and regulations that support the growth and competitiveness of the construction industry and partnering with Government and other stakeholders to develop infrastructure projects that empower local contractors.
“We are committed to working closely with all stakeholders, including the Government, private sector and international partners, to achieve these goals.”

ZBCA is a non-profit national organisation established in 1985 to represent emergent building contractors in various fields.
President Mnangagwa will assume the SADC chairmanship during the Summit whose preparations are now at an advanced stage.
The setting up of necessary supporting infrastructure is over 90 percent complete with companies in several economic sectors including transport, accommodation, retail and entertainment preparing for extra business.

Zimbabwe is expected to host more than 150 companies from across southern Africa during the SADC Industrialisation Week that is scheduled to run from July 28 to August 2 under the theme “Promoting innovation to unlock opportunities for sustainable economic growth and development: towards an industrialised SADC.”
The event will be a precursor to the SADC Heads of State Summit that will be held on August 17.
