ZIMBABWE Cricket chairman, Tavengwa Mukuhlani is seeking to represent the ruling Zanu-PF in this year’s harmonised election in his home province of Mashonaland West as he is standing in today’s primary polls for Mhondoro-Ngezi constituency.
Mukuhlani is contesting against six other candidates, Lindiwe Chitombo, Thompson Nhidza, Jacob Nhidza, Taurai Mabika, Edward Chimedza and Norbert Kazembe. Incumbent MP for the area Mike Gava is missing from the list of those contesting in the primary elections.
The Bulawayo-based pharmacist is the not the only cricket administrator seeking political office. Admire Marodza, a ZC employee based in Midlands is standing in the Maramba Pfungwe primary elections. The Zimbabwe national Under-19 team manager is one of the nine eyeing to represent the ruling party in one its strongholds. Maramba Pfungwe MP Washington Musvaire is also contesting in the primary elections.

Former ZC managing director Ozias Bvute is also eyeing the Goromonzi North seat. The ex-ZC board member has been busy campaigning in the area with cars branded in his name.

The three cricket administrators join their football counterparts of Zifa president Philip Chiyangwa.
(Zvimba South), his deputy Omega Sibanda (Vungu) and Chicken Inn official Mlungisi Moyo (Bulawayo Central) in today’s primary elections.
While the rest have never taken part in the national elections before, Chiyangwa has served as a Zanu-PF MP for Chinhoyi while Moyo lost to Dorcas Sibanda of the MDC-T in his bid to represent Bulawayo Central in the last elections in 2013.
