ZIMBABWE Cricket (ZC) has named a 17-member squad for their five-match T20I series against India which gets underway on Saturday at Harare Sports Club.

The squad includes Belgium born all-rounder Antum Naqvi whose participation is, however, subject to confirmation of his citizenship status. He was born to Pakistani parents in Brussels before moving to Australia. Naqvi plays for Rhinos in the country’s first-class setup and has a T20 strike rate of 146,80.

There was no place for Sean Williams and Craig Ervine who were not considered for selection while Ryan Burl, Joylord Gumbie and Ainsley Ndlovu failed to make the cut. The five were part of the squad that travelled to Bangladesh in April.

The Chevrons welcome the return of Tendai Chatara alongside Wessly Madhevere, Brandon Mavuta, Dion Myers, Innocent Kaia and Milton Shumba. Clive Madande, Brian Bennett, Johnathan Campbell, Wellington Masakadza, Tadiwanashe Marumani and Faraz Akram have been retained. The five matches between Zimbabwe and India are penciled for 6, 7, 10, 13 and 14 July. All the five matches will be starting at 1pm.
