LOG leaders in the Nedbank Premier Netball League, Makate High Flyers had their 14-match unbeaten run checked by favourites, Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) Queens in Aspindale on Saturday.

The army team had to summon all its experience and play its “A game” to scuttle title hopes for last weekend’s log leaders.

ZDF beat Makate 40-36 in a match described by league spokesperson Innocent Ndiya as having been exciting.

The army team went on to win another match 80-29 against the hosts Aspindale Queens.

It was a bad day on the courts for Aspindale as they were also beaten by visiting Chapungu 79-23.

Makate in the fourth fixture of the day edged Chapungu 44-42.

Tanaka Makusha was adjudged the best player of the bubble. She plays for ZDF as a goalkeeper.

 Results

Chapungu 79 – 23 Aspindale Queens, ZDF Queens 40 – 36, Makate Higher Fliers, ZDF Queens 80 – 29, Aspindale Queens, Chapungu 42 – 44 Makate HighFlyers
