THE ZDF Queens are proving unstoppable in the Nedbank Premier Netball League, steamrolling past opponents and leaving little doubt about their championship ambitions.
Fresh from a strong showing at the Confederation of Southern Africa Netball Associations (COSANA) tournament, the Queens extended their unbeaten run over the weekend with three dominant wins, trouncing Black Rhinos 70–36, P Stars 77–41 and Imbizo Queens 72–30.
Second placed Manyame Falcons kept up the chase with two convincing victories of their own, beating Mutare City 63–27 and P Stars 68–29. Their relentless push for the top adds extra spice to the title race.
Meanwhile, Bikita Minerals failed to fulfil their scheduled matches, handing walkover wins to Makate High Flyers and Harare City.
League spokesperson Innocent Ndiya described the weekend’s action as a thrilling showcase of skill and intensity, with the Mazowe bubble delivering a memorable atmosphere for fans.
“Imbizo Queens and Black Rhinos put up a good fight. ZDF Queens’ Sharon Bwanali proved to be a brick wall, earning the Golden Hand of the Bubble title with 148 goals.
“The experience she gained during the recent COSANA tournament in Namibia is clearly paying off, as she continues to sharpen her goal shooting skills with every match,” Ndiya said.
The Queens’ COSANA momentum appears to have carried over, with swelling crowds showing up to back the team. That energy from the stands has only fuelled their fierce performances on court.
As the league heads into its midseason phase, all eyes are on ZDF Queens. With challenging fixtures looming, they’ll need to stay sharp to protect their position at the top.
