ZEC finalises voter education manual

“We have been printing copies in the last three weeks to distribute around the country.

“We are currently working on the strategies of distributing them to the provinces,” she said.
She said pamphlets and other materials would also be distributed to equip the voters with the necessary information and to appreciate the electoral process before, during and after an election.

Comm Kazembe said the handbook would only be distributed after the training of trainers who were expected to train other people on the use of the handbook.
Asked about similar initiatives by other civic bodies, she said Zec was the only organisation mandated to provide voter education.

“Anybody doing that (voter education) is violating the law.

“We are the only organisation in terms of our electoral laws mandated to conduct voter education and oversee elections,” she said.
Zimbabwe is bracing for elections whose dates are imminent.
