adminZimbabwe Electoral Commission Mashonaland West provincial elections manager Mr Kenneth Kwaramba died after falling ill while chairing a Hurungwe West planning meeting in Karoi.
He is said to have started complaining of pain in his eye while chairing a meeting on Tuesday afternoon at the Hurungwe District Administrator’s office.
He reportedly went to Karoi District Hospital where he later died of suspected high blood pressure and sugar levels.
Hurungwe DA, Ms Tsana Chirau, confirmed the death yesterday.
“He (Mr Kwaramba) was chairing a planning meeting of the Hurungwe West by-election at our offices when he suddenly started complaining of pain in his eye,” she said.
His deputy took over the chairing of the meeting.
Mr Kwaramba presided over the Hurungwe West by-election nomination court in April where former zanu-pf Mashonaland West provincial chairman Temba Mliswa will contest against zanu-pf candidate Keith Guzah.
Mashonaland West provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Clemence Mabgweazara, said details of his death were still sketchy.
However, police sources said foul play could only be ruled out after the outcome of a post-mortem.
