Zed kills Chimanimani man

of Chimanimani.

Tendwa allegedly left home on May 25 for Mozambique with a friend, Oliver Mahubo and a group of others to play a social soccer match with a Mozambican team.

Tendwa who was a supporter allegedly took several bottles of Zed and homemade “sope” while he was in Mozambique. They returned home on the same day.

Tendwa started complaining of stomach pains before he parted ways with Mahubo.

He, however, failed to reach home and on May 27, his father with the help of other villagers began looking for him.

The search team discovered his body in an advanced state of decomposing in a bush near their homestead on May 31. The body had no visible injuries and was ferried to Chipinge District Hospital for a post mortem.

“Investigations are in progress. However, we suspect that he may have died due to over intoxication after he took too much of the illicit brew.

“We urge members of the public to value lives and refrain from taking illicit brews since they are harmful to health,” said Chipinge District police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Kadzuraumera.
