The Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University plans to establish three more faculties at the institution by March next year, an official has said.
The university’s registrar Mr Richard Maphosa told The Herald that the institution was in the process of introducing the faculties of agriculture, commerce and education.
“We are now moving from just being a religious institution to a more competitive university that will add value to the education system of our country,” he said. “By introducing agriculture as a faculty, the university will add its mark to the country’s agrarian economy.
We want to support the land reform programme which has been a huge success.”
The introduction of the faculties of commerce and education, he said, would help widen study opportunities for prospective students.
“The university wants to play its part by training students who can help rebuild the economy,” he said.
The university has an enrolment of 21 students studying various courses at the institution.
The Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa-run university was opened in May 2012.
Zimbabwe has five non-State universities and 11 State universities. Zimbabwe’s literacy rate stands at 90,9 percent and is the only country on the continent with a literacy rate of over 90 percent.
