Zekumbawira still injured as PSL resumes

this week with a tricky date at Buffaloes on Wednesday.

The DeMbare camp has been struggling with injuries which only got worse when midfielder Cliff Sekete, central defender Gift Bello joined the casualty ward just before the two-week break.

Team manager Richard Chihoro yesterday said the break was a blessing to them as it allowed most of their players to heal but were still worrying over the big striker Zekumbawira who is on a one year loan.

The former Hwange man has seen little action since moving to the capital in February this year on a US$15 000 price-tag and is still down with a hip problem.

Zekumbawira was not involved when the Glamour Boys played Monomotapa in a friendly match at Rufaro on Saturday. Defender Byron Madzokere who has also struggling for fitness could be back on the sidelines after injuring his back in the match and had to be replaced by Sydney Linyama.

However Chihoro said the Glamour Boys were relieved with the recovery of most of the players.
“We will look at all the players when we start our training tomorrow (today). We were in a very bad situation in terms of injuries but now it looks like most of the players have made good progress.

“The break was a blessing for us but we still have other players who are not yet fit.
Dynamos will also be assessing defender Partson Jaure who was dropped from the Warriors squad that travelled to Guinea because of a sore throat.

Muparati is one of the nine players who will not take part in the mid-week games because of suspensions and will be joined in the sidelines by Thabani Goredema, Moses Jackson (both Chicken Inn), Warren Dube (How Mine), Caleb Masocha (Shabanie Mine), Brighton Chandisaita (Black Rhinos), Mercyful Ncube, Reuben Machaya (both Motor Action) and Webster Chingodza (Tripple B).

Meanwhile, Highlanders beat Black Rhinos 1-0 in the Commander Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) Charities soccer match played at Barbourfields Stadium yesterday.
Fringe player Ozias Zibande who started in the match scored the all-important goal for Bosso in the

56th minute making sure his club became $6 000 richer in the process.
Peter ‘‘Rio’’ Moyo who was full of trickery and a handful to the Black Rhinos rearguard outwitted his markers on the touch line and found Douglas Sibanda with a beautiful pass.

Sibanda quickly crossed the ball into the box with the alert Zibande connecting with his head leaving Hebert Rusawo in goal for Black Rhinos well beaten. The match started at a slow pace with both teams evenly balanced but it was the home team who almost drew first blood when a Bruce Kangwa free-kick missed the target by inches.
