“We are appealing to friends to donate at least US$5 each towards his hospital expenses which have now escalated to US$4 000. Even if you don’t know Noel, I know all my friends have a good heart, please donate something into Winnie Zembe (his sister) CBZ account number 09823090040016 or EcoCash 0773 984 668. Thank you good people.
We still have a long way to go. The target is US$4 250,” he said.
Noel was admitted to Chitungwiza Central Hospital after he was badly hurt in a car accident a fortnight ago.
Winnie said it was difficult for her to raise the money since she was unemployed.
Though Noel has been on the downward spiral in recent years, he is known for his songs which once topped the charts on both radio and television.
His career dates back to 1985 when he teamed up with Emmanuel Thomas, Jivas Dzotizei, Philbert Marowa, Wellington Masvosva and the late Bob Manwere to form the Scanners. The band released the single “Chauya Chauya” which was well received.
Zindi adopted the Scanners and renamed it Black Fusion and later changed the name to Frontline Crew. Zembe eventually left the group to pursue a solo career in gospel music.
