IT’S five out of five for Mano Zevgolis.
The irresistible Harare-based motor racing driver Zevgolis registered his fifth straight win in the tough 3-Hour Endurance Race Day at Bulawayo Motorsport Park on Saturday.
Zevgolis, who is also into drag racing and main circuit racing, has been a model of consistency at the internationally-acclaimed 3-Hour Endurance Race for the past five years in which he has claimed the top step on the podium.
On Saturday, racing against some of the top main circuit racing drivers in Zimbabwe and South Africa, Zevgolis was once again in a league of his own.
Zevgolis had a date with destiny, blowing away a strong field of 20 cars to win the 125-lap race in convincing fashion.
He made it look like the natural thing in the world by just sweeping the opposition away in the Saloon B Class.
It was an explosion of euphoria and relief for his team, which included his wife Susan, who also is into motor racing, as Zevgolis was declared the winner of this gruelling exciting race at the business end of the day on Saturday afternoon before a capacity crowd at Bulawayo Motorsport Park.
He just proved that he is a different beast when it comes to motor racing in this country.
Driving a Honda CRX 2-litre naturally aspirated car, Zevgolis was just like a killer among friends. He’s just a serial winner.

Speaking to Zimpapers Sports Hub soon after the race on Saturday, Zevgolis was just over the moon.
Zevgolis thanked his team, family, friends and local motorsport enthusiasts for their support as he cemented his place as the most successful motor racing driver in this country.
“I started the race with low expectations, due to the calibre of cars we were up against.
“The heat played an influential role in our strategy; dealing with amplified tyre degradation, we had to ease off to maintain our one-stop plan.
“We were very fortunate to have a solid pit stop and reliability on our side, so we were able to push hard until the very end, and take the chequered flag, with a comfortable lead ahead this year, for a change.
“All in all, it was a fantastic, well supported event, and my thanks go to all involved, including the racing fans.”
Zevgolis is surely having the time of his life.
Veteran Richard “Mahobho” Robinson was no match for Zevgolis as he was forced to settle for second place behind his fellow Harare-based motor racing driver.
Robinson was driving a Guard Alert Toyota Supra.
The country’s other top motor racing drivers such as Barney Rodgers, Onismo Mhute, Dylan Pragji, Vernon Lapham, Des Morris and Quinton Holder were also in action on Saturday and they all finished in the top 10 in this star-studded field.
The 3-Hour Endurance Race Day was co-sponsored by Castrol Zimbabwe and Rossi Tyres, and it included a 1-Hour Bike Race.
