ZGA to hold workshop

Sports Reporter
ZIMBABWE Golf Association (ZGA) will host a strategic workshop aimed at discussing how the sport can improve forward at Chapman Golf Club tomorrow. The workshop will be conducted by Zimbabwe Olympic Committee and the Sports Commission. According to the workshop minutes, the seminar is aimed at improving the future of golf in the country, which has been going down.

ZGA oversee both Zimbabwe Professional Golf Association, Zimbabwe Junior Golf as well as the Zimbabwe Ladies Golf Union. The three unions are fed by the association members and they are the ones who are answerable to the Sports Commission.

Last year, Zimbabwe Junior Golf Union, which is a subsidiary of ZGA, left the Sports Commission with an egg on the face after they listed them among entities who were set to be de-registered for non-commitment. All national sport associations that would not have submitted their SRC compliance plans by the deadline of November 30, were set to be de-registered and they included ZJGU.

The union, through their president Themba Sibanda, distanced themselves from the demands of Sports Commission, indicating that they are only an affiliate of ZGA.
