But the defender, who hasn’t won a league title since joining Amakhosi, says it would be a great feeling winning the Absa Premiership league title with the Soweto giants.
Amakhosi are enjoying a seven-point lead over second placed Platinum Stars and rivals Orlando Pirates who are on 45 points from 24 matches.
Speaking from his base yesterday, the former Gunners captain said he believes this season is meant for Chiefs and they should now hold on and try to win the next three consecutive matches from their remaining five before they can start dreaming of the Promised Land.
“This season is meant for us as you can see whenever we have been dropping points our closest rivals, Pirates, have also been dropping points and it has worked in our favour.
“They have games in hand and we had points in the bag but they have continued to drop points from those matches as well. The team is just taking things as they come and after two more matches everything should be in shape.
The stage at which the team is now is very crucial as everyone doesn’t want to drop points and if you look at our remaining matches, the next game is against SuperSport.
“They are chasing for the top four finish while Ajax Cape Town are trying to avoid relegation and Platinum Stars still have outside chances of winning the league.
“So the matches are tricky and everyone has to keep fighting but l know my teammates and the spirit in the team has just been amazing as they believe they deserve the league and have worked hard from the first game up to this stage,” said Jambo.
Apart from going for the rehabilatation programme, the former Warriors defender has been spending most of his time at home and watching his team when playing matches around Gauteng Province.
Jambo has found himself being prone to injuries since joining the club, which has firm faith in Zimbabwean players, in the 2009/2010 season. All the five foreign players at Amakhosi are from Zimbabwe — Kingstone Nkhatha, Willard Katsande and Mathew Rusike, Lincoln Zvasiya and Jambo — but only the former CAPS FC striker, Nkhatha, has been commanding a regular place.
This week the log leaders shift their focus to the Cup game when they play Bloemfontein Celtics in the Nedbank Cup before they renew their their fight for the league with a home tie against the Pretoria side.
