THE Zimbabwe Handball Federation took another step in their efforts to promote the sport as they appointed an interim executive committee to run the Premier League expected to start on March 29.
The league was originally set to start in 2013 but was moved to this year and will run from March to December with the clubs competing in the Northern and Southern regions.
Each region will see 10 men and 10 women clubs competing.
The Northern Region is made up of Harare, Mashonaland Central, Mashonaland West, Manicaland and Mashonaland East while the Southern consists of Bulawayo, Midlands, Matabeleland North, Matabeleland South and Masvingo. The committee was appointed over the weekend in Gweru during the end-of-the-year Club Championships which were initially scheduled for December last year but were moved to this year.
The interim committee is led by Lydia Dube of Budiriro Rovers from Gweru and the vice chairperson is Maxwell Tipa. The other members are secretary-general Bernard Muzanenhamo, treasurer Muthulisi Siziba, Takafuma Joan who is in charge of marketing and secretary Dennis Sibanda.
