ZHF targets African Handball Cup of Nations

THE Zimbabwe Handball Federation has indicated that they are hoping to send a team for the African Handball Cup of Nations to be staged in Morocco early next year.

The continental competition is scheduled for January.

There hasn’t been much competition since last year as the sporting calendar was disrupted by the Covid-19 scourge.

ZHF secretary-general Edison Chirowodza said participation is by invitation.

“In terms of competition we are looking forward to having the Zone Six in April. The vision 2024 team is now outside the age category for the Zone Six which is Under-20, but we look forward to them participating in the African Cup of Nations in January, in Morocco.

“At the moment it’s by invitation because of lack of competition in the previous year. It’s for both men and women. As a country we are yet to finalise which team is ready to compete in that competition,” said Chirowodza.
