FORMER Zimbabwe international Ramson Zhuwawo has dragged his would-be new club Mbabane Highlanders to the corridors of Sigwaca House as he seeks redress from the National Football Association of Swaziland after the MTN PLS giants reneged on agreed contractual obligations.
After penning an eight-month contract and making an appearance for the most successful Swazi soccer giants in the SPTC Charity Shield last month, the club later negotiated a contract termination because they had to clear their foreign quota.
After settling for an undisclosed contract termination fee the clubs kept on promising before eventually ignoring Zhuwawoas pleas which have led to the former Gunners championship winning midfielder seeking recourse.
Last Thursday, the Zimbabwean wrote to NFAS who as promised called back on Tuesday setting a hearing which was due for Thursday (yesterday) to find a solution to the stand off.
In his letter the Zimbabwean defensive midfielder is demanding over E70 000 (about $5 000) from the team being the total money he was due to receive in salaries.
The player is demanding E73 000 in respect of a signing-on fee of E25 000 plus E6 000 salary for a period of eight months.
A source close to the matter revealed that the player was told two weeks after the Charity Cup that he did not impress the Meck Mwase-led outfit, hence would be released from his contract.
a?It was agreed that they would buy him out of the eight months contract he signed with the team but nothing has happened so far, that is why the matter is now with the FA,a? he said.
Zhuwawo confirmed taking the matter for redress.
a?Mbabane Highlanders have reneged on what we had agreed on as a buy out fee since I can no longer be registered to play until the next transfer window period which is January 2017. I have tried calling them, meeting them and every effort has yielded no joy.
a?I have been left with no option but to seek intervention from the FA. I submitted my letter and the matter is set to be heard on Thursday,a? confirmed Zhuwawo on Tuesday.
According to local media, Mbabane Highlanders MD Bheki a?Rubbera? Simelane said it was not true that they had breached their contract with the player.
He said all the teamas players were made to sign a performance related contract and they did explain this to the player alongside his agent after the Charity Cup.
a?We explained the performance related contract to the players. I am surprised that there is now a letter submitted to the FA when I called and met the player yesterday (Thursday) to give him the termination letter and his money,a? he said.
The MD said they were ready to meet the player in any football structure because they were in the clear.
In other news Manzini Wanderers technical director, Julius Chakupewa is in Pretoria attending a CAF B Licence course after being barred to direct team affairs from the technical area during matches.
To sit on the technical area NFAS requires a minimum CAF B with authorities refusing to recognise the Germany Pro which Chakupewa holds.
The phase ends at the weekend with the second and final phase set for early October. a @NoelMunzabwa .
