THE Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy towards verbal or physical abuse of match officials.

ZIFA, via statement on Wednesday touched on the importance of sportsmanship, mutual respect, and preserving dignity for all involved in the game.
Recent incidents have highlighted the need to uphold the fundamental values of football. Match officials play a crucial role in upholding the laws of the game and must be afforded the respect and protection their role demands.

ZIFA will not hesitate to impose sanctions on those who breach acceptable conduct, including allowing the full weight of the law to take its course when necessary. The association calls on all stakeholders, including clubs, supporters’ groups, and community leaders, to promote a safe, respectful, and professional football environment.

“Disagreement with officiating decisions must never be used as justification for unruly conduct. Let us uphold the integrity of Zimbabwean football by safeguarding the well-being of all who make the game possible,” read the statement.
