adminA 35-seater bus belonging to Zifa was disposed of at a public auction in Harare yesterday morning through the order of the High Court.
Former Zifa employees Tafirenyika Chitsungo, Harriet Samukange, Munyaradzi Siwatsi and Christopher Manuel took Zifa to court aiming to recover their packages after being retrenched from the association.
The four are said to have gone into voluntary retirement on August 2011 and were supposed to have received their dues but nothing came along.
Chitsungo and his colleagues took their matter to Labour Court where Zifa were ordered to pay salaries and the quartet then went on to be granted another order to execute whatever is due to them in salaries.
On Tuesday, the Messenger of the High Court in case number HC9835/12, visited Zifa House at Number 53 Livingstone Avenue where they attached property. Another batch of property had been attached before. First to go under the hammer yesterday at KM Auctions from Zifa was the Mazda T35 Swaraj minibus which was one of the two buses sourced by the late Vice President Joseph Msika.
The bus, which is a runner, was being used to carry the junior and women’s teams to training sessions while the other bus, which had broken down, was lost in the same manner. — Sports Reporter.
