THE Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) has extended its heartfelt appreciation to the Young Transformers Association (YTA) for successfully hosting a two-day Futsal tournament in Mbare, Harare, aimed at raising awareness about drug abuse and discouraging the use of illicit substances, particularly among young football players in marginalised communities.
The tournament, which took place at Stodart, Mbare, was a vibrant celebration of football as a force for social change.
Zifa board member Kudzai Kadzombe, who represented the association at the event, praised the initiative for its impactful message.
“Football is more than just a sport; it is a transformative force that provides young people with a sense of purpose, discipline, and hope. This tournament is a testament to the power of sport as a platform for education and unity. It’s about shaping a brighter future for our youth,” said Kadzombe.

The event was specifically designed to keep young athletes in Mbare away from the harmful temptations of drug abuse, offering them a positive and engaging alternative.
Zifa believes that such grassroots football initiatives are vital in nurturing a generation of athletes who are not only skilled on the pitch but are also responsible and well-informed members of society.
Zifa remains committed to supporting programmes that empower youth, promote healthy lifestyles, and create opportunities for positive social change. The association sees this collaboration with YTA as an important step in building stronger, more empowered communities, where young people can thrive both on and off the field.
