ZIFA Eastern Region are hunting for an administrator to replace the long serving Tedious Machawira who is stepping down from the role due to old age.
Davison Muchena, the Zifa Eastern Region chairman (pictured) said they have started the process of replacing Machawira, who is being let go since he has gotten to the age of retirement.
“Our long serving administrator Tedious Machawira has reached retirement age, he has served football for 20 years so we want him to rest. We have to let him go because of advanced age, we are now looking for someone much younger. We are willing to take someone on attachment especially those doing sports administration,’’ Muchena said.
Machawira is still occupying the Masvingo office after he was given a three months extension as the region hunts for someone to take over.
“We want the new person to start on the 1st of March with Machawira to guide them for a month then he can retire. Machawira’s last day was 31 December 2019 but we gave give him three more months while we hunt for his replacement.”
Machawira started off at the Zifa headquarters before he moved to Eastern Region in 2001.
In terms of the start of the Eastern Region new season, Muchena indicated that the last week of March is when the matches should start. United Lions and Graham were demoted with the trio of Elland as well as Clairemont and PG promoted.
