The Zifa Matabeleland North League will next month hold three-day administration courses targeting football administrators from affiliate clubs, aspiring administrators, coaches and those in charge of football in schools and the community at large.
According to Zifa technical and development co-ordinator (Mat North) Mehluli Thebe, the courses will be held in Binga, Dete, Hwange and Victoria Falls with a sole aim of promoting good governance of clubs and also foster understanding of legislation governing football by administrators.
“Plans are now at an advanced stage for the courses which will be held in Binga (April 6-8, 2018), Dete (April 13-15), Hwange (April 20 -22) and Victoria Falls (April 27-29).
As a league, we aim to see clubs run professionally at these grassroots levels and also ensure the club leaders also fully understands legislation governing football in Zimbabwe,’’ said Thebe.
The process to identify a facilitator who will come along a representative of the Football Union of Zimbabwe is also underway.
“In the Southern Region we have three facilitators namely Brian Moyo, Kenny Ndebele and Nhlanhla Dube and we are in engagements with them which will see one coming down along a FUZ representative for the programme and the name will be announced in due course.
After a three-day journey with such respectable football personalities, we hope to have less conflict during matches and adoption of a more business approach to football,’’ he added.
Meanwhile, the league’s official business for 2018 roared into life last weekend after the staging of the Annual General Meeting at Hwange Government High School.
The league, divided into Division 2A (Hwange, Vic Falls and Dete) and 2B (Binga) starts either on the weekend of 7-7 April or 14-15 April.
Moto Moto and Lunda FC were the winners in 2017 in the 2A and 2B respectively. -@tobymandox
