The Zimbabwe Football Association has conveyed its condolences to the Chapfika family following the untimely death of former match official, Tichaona Chapfika.

Speaking to the association’s official website, ZIFA chief executive Jonathan Mashingaidze said Chapfika’s death has robbed the nation of great talent and experience in the football industry.

“We have learnt of the passing on of Tichaona Chapfika with great shock and regret, a distinguished referee.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his beloved family in this time of bereavement. May they find solace in the Lord,” Mashingaidze said.

The former match official died at his Chitungwiza home on Wednesday.

At some point in his life, Chapfika ventured into politics and show business.

Former Dynamos secretary-general, Brian Kashangura, said Chapfika’s death was a big loss.

“As you are aware, I am currently at Bindura University where I am studying Security Studies and I am unable to attend the funeral of our illustrious referee, brother, and friend — Tichaona Chapfika,” said kashangura.

“I learnt of his illness through former mayor of Chitungwiza, Alderman Darlington Nota.

“I wish to convey my deepest condolences to his family, relatives and friends for this sad loss.”
