ZIFA Normalisation Committee (NC) chairperson, Lincoln Mutasa, has praised the Zimbabwe Soccer Coaches Association (Zisca) for its vital role in player development.
Mutasa made the remarks during a virtual meeting with Zisca Bulawayo Province coaches on Monday evening.
“We are recovering from the Fifa suspension. Our mandate is to establish structures serving football in the country. We have set up a secretariat to grow the game, focusing on short and long-term goals. We aim to develop football, ensuring our clubs and national teams excel in international tournaments. We are working on talent identification and development across the country.”

Regarding coaches’ representation in the Zifa Assembly, Mutasa said, “Zisca is crucial to the football ecosystem, playing a key role in player development. The issue of Zisca having a seat in the assembly is decided by members.”
Mutasa emphasised the importance of coaches’ development.
“Coaches are recognised, and their development is a key component of Zifa’s work. We asked coaching bodies to unite and amplify their voice,” said Mutasa.
World football governing body, Fifa, extended Mutasa’s Normalisation Committee tenure by another six months in July with their brief being to create an election roadmap. Under the constitution, coaching bodies are not viewed as association members.
The Zifa Congress will convene in Harare on Friday (today) to discuss and adopt an amended constitution. The next Zifa elections, set for January 2025, will be based on this amended constitution. — @innocentskizoe
