Zifa Southern Region affiliation fees deadline nears

CLUBS intending to play in the Zifa Southern Region Division One Soccer League have up to today to pay their affiliation fees or risk being left out.

Blessing Mbwanda confirmed on Wednesday that February 14 had been set by management as the date by which all should have paid their dues.

“We set this Friday as the deadline by which all ought to have paid their dues to the league. This helps in the smooth running of the league. It starts with people being members by paying the relevant amounts of money and allowing us to fixture member clubs,” said Mbwanda.

The board member who is also responsible for talking to the media, said once the deadline passes, it will be left to the Zifa Southern Assembly to decide whether to admit some of the clubs like Imbizo and Bulawayo Warriors who have applied to play in the league.

Mbwanda confirmed that the decision to admit clubs lies in the Assembly.

The Zifa Southern Region will have its annual general meeting in Bulawayo on February 22.

“On Friday we will have a clearer picture about who is in and who is out. Clubs should have paid by then.

A number of teams have applied and want to be part of us and to fill slots if there are any at our general meeting, it will be up to the members to admit them. As management we have no say,” said Mbwanda.
