Zifa Southern Region says they are ready for the start of the Munhumutapa Challenge Cup, which begins this afternoon.

The preliminary matches slated for this afternoon will see Zimbabwe Saints take on Mosi Rovers at White City Stadium while Khami United faces Njube Spurs at Khami Prison.

Southern Region board member Tizirayi Luphahla says they are raring to go and expect quality, competitive action as the tournament finally gets underway.

Our preliminaries start today with two exciting fixtures to kick off this prestigious competition. We expect these opening matches to set the tone for what should be a highly competitive and entertaining tournament.

These are important games because they mark the beginning of a journey we believe will bring excitement to communities and clubs across the Southern Region,” said Luphahla.

“We are confident the teams will rise to the occasion and give supporters quality football. This tournament is also about creating opportunities for clubs and players to showcase themselves on a bigger stage while strengthening the competitive culture of our game,” he added.

Luphahla said they expect to announce the dates for the first and second round matches soon, but tentatively, the first round will be next month, while the second round will be in June.
