THE Zifa stakeholders and affiliates will today conduct a familiarisation tour of the Zifa Village and conference centre in Mount Hampden.
Zifa communications manager Xolisani Gwesela yesterday said a lot of development has taken place at the village which was built under the Fifa Goal project.
Construction work at the site is now nearing completion.
Gwesela said they have invited representatives of all their affiliates from the 10 provinces, the four regions, area zones, beach soccer, PSL clubs, Futsal, Zifa board members, NAPH and NASH to take part in the tour.
“The purpose of this tour is to afford the stakeholders and affiliates of Zifa to familiarise themselves with various prestigious and innovative projects at the Zifa Village and Conference Centre.
“The Zifa Village and Conference Centre is the hallmark of football development in the country. The stakeholders and affiliates will have a chance to view the proposed Hall of Fame and the venue for the construction of the lodges.
“Stakeholders and affiliates will also have the opportunity to see the progress made so far on the construction of the artificial turf training ground at the Village.
“The affiliates that have been invited include the 10 provinces, the four regions, the area zones, representatives from beach soccer, the Five-a-Side, PSL Clubs, members of the Zifa board, NAPH, NASH and the tertiary education.
“Former footballers, being significant in the growth of football, have also been invited to grace this wonderful tour.
“The 12th player, the supporters, are also key in development of the game of football hence recognised supporters groups, the Friends of Warriors, will also take part in the tour.
“The media are key partners of the game of football hence they have been also invited to grace and cover this momentous occasion at the Zifa Village,” said Gwesela.
The Zimbabwe National Soccer Supporters Association, who have fought a number of boardroom battles with the Zifa board, have not been invited.
