Zifa wait on Ethics Committee

consultations on the composition of the team.
The Zifa board agreed at their meeting last Friday to set up the Ethics Committee which would deal with the Warriors’ controversial trips to Asia.

Zifa had announced that they will commission the committee on Tuesday but yesterday the association’s communications manager Nicky Dhlamini said it has taken a bit longer.
Reports have indicated that some of the judges targeted by Zifa have expressed their reservations about being brought into the committee to deal with an issue whose investigation has already torched controversy.

“The process requires that we talk to the people of integrity who are targeted first before the announcements.
“As the statement last week said, the Ethics Committee should have people with the requisite technical and should be independent. Besides there are still some consultations to be made with Interpol and Fifa,” said Dhlamini.

Last week, the board resolved that the Ethics Committee will be commissioned on the Tuesday 13 September 2011 by the Zifa president Cuthbert Dube and should comprise six members. The six will include a retired judge, a retired Zimbabwe Republic Commissioner and top lawyer. The other three could be drawn based on their background in football. The team will have to meet with the Fifa security team upon their arrival sometime this month.
