THE Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (Zera) has reduced fuel prices in local currency effective 8 August up to September 4, 2025.

In a statement, Zera said in local currency, diesel 50 went down from Zimbabwe Gold (ZWG) 41,63 per litre to ZWG41,40, while blend (E20) went down from ZWG42,04 per litre to ZWG41,68.

The US dollar prices remained the same with diesel 50 pegged at US$1,55 per litre and blend (E20) at US$1,56 per litre.

“The prices are for August 2025 based on M-1 and they will be effective up to 4 September 2025. The public and operators are advised that the blending ratio is at E20,” said the authority.

“Operators may sell the petroleum products below the prescribed prices depending on their trading advantages and should display prices in a prominent place as provided for by the fuel pricing regulations.”

According to Zera, the current blending ratio stands at 20 percent ethanol (E20). Anhydrous ethanol refers to ethanol that contains little to no water (less than one percent water content). Petroleum dealers in the country are required to adhere to the blending ratio.

Blending with ethanol has been compulsory since 2011 as part of national measures to encourage use of biofuels.
