ZIM Connect Summer Festival will this year host six mainstream acts led by ExQ, Enzo Ishall and Tamy Moyo in Texas, United States.
The event will take over Lewisville Lake on September 3.
Completing the line-up is Poptain, Shashl, with the battle of the best producers between DJ Tamuka and DJ Levels.
In an interview with H-Metro, show organiser Bevan Makaka of Xcelerate Enterprises, said the event was inspired by a big dream to create better lives for artists in Zimbabwe.
“I run a company called Xcelerate Enterprises, which focuses on logistics, mining, IT consultancy and now branching into entertainment.
“The dream is to build a new culture for both the Zimbabwean diaspora and the world at large.
“We are also setting a platform for Zimbabwean creatives to showcase their intention to globalise their craft, in this instance musically.
“We want to change artists’ lives and make them known out here.”
Makaka said he has an interesting phrase to describe his music festival.
He calls it ‘a beast.’
“For the entertainment part it’s all about bringing Zim talent to the Western world.
“Over the years, I have worked in the background in hosting and making sure that all the artists that came to the US were properly catered for, their shows were successful.
“Several people are excited about the event. We hope that everything goes according to plan.
“I have always had a passion for music and I won’t stop promoting my kith and kin.
“I believe I have a role to play and ensure that I help some of my peers yearning for recognition.”
