AUTHOR Kudakwashe Muganu has had his first novel titled ‘The Power Of Wisdom’ approved by the Gauteng Department of Education in South Africa.

This means it will be read in schools and libraries in the Gauteng area.

Kudakwashe (29) said the book was inspired by his experience while he was studying at a university in South Africa.

He said he saw a lot of students quitting school and opting to hustle.

He said the book aims to help students to take their studies seriously.

“Education is very important in our lives because it trains our minds to think in a better way, to be a problem solver, productive, for us to read and write.

“In South Africa, there is a high rate of school dropouts because many youngsters do not know why they are going to school.

“As a result of this, this leads them to take a path of alcohol or drug abuse, joining gangs, teenage pregnancy, being idle or going to rituals.

“This is why many young people are going to the graveyard at an early age due to STIs or infections of the lungs, heart, kidneys, cancer and many are spending most of their lives in jails while others will end up committing suicides.

“This is not only happening in South Africa but it’s also being experienced in Zimbabwe as we are a global village hence this book caters for everyone because we are all students of life.

“The day you stop learning, this is the day you begin to die.

“Writing consumes a lot of time. l was struggling to find time to write this book because I juggle a lot of activities at the same time. I developed a strategy of writing articles or my book at night.

“It is my greatest hope that this book inspires someone out there through its various themes and that it will spread to other parts of African educational institutions so that we fly the country’s flag higher,” said Kudakwashe.
