ZIMBABWEANS are celebrating and saluting sprinter Makanaka Charamba who consolidated his place as one of the best in the world with a bronze medal at the Diamond League final 200m race on Saturday.
Charamba ran a sub-20s to finish third and even relegated Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo of Botswana into fourth place.
The Zimbabwe Olympic Committee led the way in congratulating a sprinter who has transformed himself into a world-class athlete.
“Huge congratulations to our Olympic finalist Makanakaishe Charamba for storming to a phenomenal podium finish, securing the bronze medal in the Diamond League Final 200m,” the ZOC said in a statement.
“Witnessed live on the ground by LA28 Chef de Mission and ZOC Board Member Abel Chimukoko, Maka put on an absolute masterclass.
“He clocked a blistering sub-20 time of 19.99 seconds, finishing right behind global giants Kenny Bednarek (19.62s) and Sinesipho Dambile (19.89s)—even beating the reigning Olympic Champion!
“What a spectacular way to cap off an unforgettable season.
“Zimbabwe is incredibly proud.”
