The Zimbabwe team for the Confederation of Southern African Schools Sports Association (Cosassa) will have their training camp at Northlea High School in Bulawayo from April 18 to April 27. The camp will be in preparation for the Cosassa Games that will be held in Maseru, Lesotho. The head of the technical team is Enias Nhoro.
“Our camp begins on April 18 at Northlea High School. We haven’t trained since March 26 but that will not affect us much because the kids are psychologically ready. In one week they’ll be ready for the Games,” Nhoro said.
He said the team was made up of 52 athletes selected from all the provinces during the National Association of Primary School Heads (Naph) track and field athletics competition held at Trojan Mine Stadium in Bindura.
“The team is made up of 26 girls and 26 boys selected from provinces all over the country. Everyone was selected on merit and they’re capable of delivering results,” said Nhoro.
The technical team is made up of Edwell Maphosa, Edmore Chatunga, Ndaba Moyo, Lucia Kokera, Walter Charinda and Kudakwashe Mhondiwa.
“These are all experienced sports practitioners and they will do the job. We’ll prepare the kids to the best of our ability and ensure they fly the flag high,” he said.
The three day tournament will see 10 countries competing against each other.
The team is set to depart for Maseru on April 27.
