An unbeaten 91-run opening partnership of Tadiwanashe Marumani and Rodney Mupfudza ensured that Zimbabwe stormed into the semi-finals of the African Games as group winners yesterday.
They maintained their unbeaten run at the games with a 10-wicket win against Nigeria yesterday to top Group B.
Zimbabwe, who chased a target of 88 runs in 16 overs scoring 91 runs, will take on Kenya in the semi-final set for today.
Group A winners Uganda will take on Namibia, who thumped Tanzania for their first win of the games yesterday, in the other semi-final.
Tadiwanshe Marumani was three runs shy of half-century as he scored 47 runs off 44 balls in the chase while his partner Mupfudza scored 39 runs off 54 balls.
After winning the toss Nigeria elected to bat first.
Nigeria had a good start to their innings as they scored 23 runs inside two overs for the loss of one wicket.
Zimbabwe were quick to get their bowling act together as they became more tight in their attack reducing the run and in the process getting two more wickets in the power player.
After blistering start which saw them scoring 23 runs in two overs, Nigeria only added 10 more runs to the board in four overs to end the power-play at 33 runs for the loss of three wickets.
Nigeria were bowled out for 88 runs in 18 overs.
Owen Muzondo was Chevrons highest wicket-taker with figures of 3-11-4 while the trio of Takudzwa Chataira, Trevor Gwandu and Tashinga Musekiwa claimed two wickets each.
Zimbabwe had decent start to their batting inning with the opening pair of Tadiwanashe Marumani and Rodney Mupfudza putting up a partnership of 91 runs off 98 balls.
