ZIM dancehall outfit, Famous Mighty Boys, became the first group from the genre to register a place at the Chibuku Road to Fame finals.

The Mashonaland East-based group grabbed the opportunity after organisers featured both Zimdancehall and Hip Hop for the first time this year.

Famous Mighty Boys beat nine other participants at a provincial final held on Saturday in Mutoko, Mashonaland East.

“We are excited to announce that we have already witnessed our first Zim dancehall entry in Mashonaland East.

“We expect the level of competition to go up while the talent search also expands,” said Delta Corporation marketing director Irimayi Muzorewa.

It was an all-Afro jazz affair in the Midlands as 911 also booked their place in the finals.

Eight more provinces are yet to register participants.

This year’s finals will be held on October 14 in Harare.

Running under the theme: “Imba Tinzwe, Cula Sizwe Super Star!”, the festival promises to be an explosive affair.

Harare will have its preliminary round on September 30 in Mbare.
